Why I do what I do:
Clients frequently ask me why I do what I do.
I always start by sharing a bit of my personal story and the “how” of my becoming a life coach who is focused on helping other women overcome life setbacks, rebuild their confidence, and reclaim lives they love. I talk about the back injury that ended my dance career and closed my first business, the resulting year and a half convalescence, weight gain, and depression, and how working with my own personal coach changed my life.
And it’s a good story, a powerful story. Remind me to tell it to you sometime.
But there is so much more to the “why” of what I do.
You see, I believe that women who are whole, healed, and confident are powerful women. They have the power to heal, help, and uplift others in their immediate circle and beyond.
I believe this so strongly that each and every one of our coaching programs from our extended Hope & Healing groups to our Thriving After Setback 12-week Masterminds and our one-on-one Elite Private Coaching Packages are all infused with a series of lessons and exercises to rebuild a woman’s awareness of who she is and what she is made of at the core of her being, as well as to strengthen her belief in what she is capable of.
I believe every woman in the world deserves to know the feeling of pride and elation that comes with being comfortable in her own skin because she truly understands her inherent core worth, is able to accept and appreciate her inborn beauty, and recognize that she is fully equipped to handle whatever comes her way with ease and grace.
It is only through whole-health, physically, emotionally, and spiritually, and a strong sense of who we are inherently, and what we are proficient at, that we as women can construct more of that same whole health in others.
"It is only through whole-health, physically, emotionally, and spiritually, and a strong sense of who we are inherently, and what we are proficient at, that we as women can construct more of that same whole health in others ."
Women who believe in themselves create partners and children who believe in themselves. And in turn there is a whole ripple-out effect that touches not only their inner circle but whole communities, and generations to come.
As each woman learns to practice self-love and self-care they become more loving wives and mothers who set excellent examples of personal care for their children and grandchildren.
As they increase their personal strength they are able to strengthen others both by example and by actualizing, honing, and sharing their innate gifts and what they are meant to do in the world.
As they build self-reliance they pass on the attributes of inner strength, responsibility, and independence to our future generations.
As they gain the confidence to fully open and connect with others they build greater connectedness within their families and communities, thereby strengthening both.
As they learn to lessen overwhelm and stress they teach others coping skills as well as how to find clarity and calmness in all situations.
When someone is lacking in self-belief they struggle. Dysfunction, depression, addiction, bullying, abuse, and poverty are all born of low self-esteem.
"When someone is lacking in self-belief they struggle. Dysfunction, depression, addiction, bullying, abuse, and poverty are all born of low self-esteem."
But strong women end established cycles of family dysfunction because they become powerful enough to make new decisions to find different ways to live, and instill fresh values and beliefs into their own lives and the lives of those they love. These women forge new paths for those who come after them. They demonstrate an original way to live, empowering those coming up to choose a better way, and to ultimately succeed in ways past generations couldn’t.
When a client comes to me wounded and struggling after a major life setback, whether it’s because of divorce, death, injury, illness, or an eating disorder, and I am able to guide and support her through the grieving/healing process to a place of feeling whole and happy again, by rebuilding her confidence, re-framing how she sees herself, and helping her create a vision, and an actionable plan to realize her dream and make it her current reality, that is powerful for me. That is rewarding to me. That is worthy of my full time and attention. That is what I thrive on!
Simply put, confident women effect change.
"Simply put, confident women effect change."
And that is my why.
Because I believe a world filled with confident, powerful women is a world filled with powerfully supported men who don’t lie, cheat, steal or abuse.
I believe a world filled with confident, powerful women is a world filled with self-assured soul sisters, uplifted by one another, who don’t settle for less in life or relationships than love, respect, and encouragement so they are able to grow and advance in life and in turn are able to infuse others with that same potent influence.
I believe a world filled with confident, powerful women is a world filled with strong, confident, emotionally healthy children who don’t bully, or cut, or starve themselves to fit into a media-induced mold, and who instead are empowered and equipped to thrive, achieve, prosper, lead, and succeed throughout life while continuing to pass on the legacy of confidence to all future generations.
It may not happen overnight. But with each newly enabled woman comes new hope for all.
